This is what happens when you live at 9,000', have too much time on your hands, a good tripod, and buy yourself a couple of timers for your cameras. I've been experimenting with creating videos by compositing hundreds of still photographs using Apple iMovie. Sometimes I'll take these photos and stack the layers in Photoshop, producing star streak photographs. The results can be interesting. The most important thing to know is whether or not you can disable the 'dark frame' function on your DSLR: if you can't, pretty much all you're going to get is dots or dotted lines. Very frustrating.
