This is a very special maintenance train. It has a locomotive on each end, some sleeping cars on the far end, the interesting bit is that the middle cars have grinders in them. As trains travel over rails, the rail tops warp in to a mushroom shape: this train grinds them flat again. It stops in Alamogordo every once in a while, I assume to do maintenance and supply before going out again on its mission to make rail travel more safe.
